Underground Vegas Film was created by a group of Southern Nevada filmmakers in conjunction with local academic film instructors. The groups’ goal is to create a public forum of Southern Nevada independent filmmakers and their productions in order to evolve and enrich the culture of Las Vegas arts.
Underground Vegas Film is attaining this goal by numerous methods:
1. Creating a twice-yearly showcase of Las Vegas film in a ‘theatre’ setting. Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their works for inclusion into our showcase. Within creating and programming the showcases, we advertise, canvas and mass communicate the information of the showcases in an effort to bring a general public audience into the venue, giving the filmmakers a stronger screening experience.
2. Underground Vegas Film attempts to keep a solid internet presence. This is to inform local filmmakers of screenings, display articles and other information sources to the independent producers of the valley. Additionally, the internet site is designed to aid actors, producers and filmmakers and create a working network to find one another and other individuals attempting to participate in productions through out the valley.
3. Our group creates bi-monthly social engagements specifically designed for any and all individuals interested in evolving and growing our independent film scene. These screening/mixers give filmmakers a chance to show their films as well as ‘works in progress’ to their peers while simultaneously setting a social atmosphere for production minded individuals to compare experiences, gain contacts and find productions to participate in.
4. In the future Underground Vegas Film hopes to help facilitate productions in the Southern Nevada area by coordinating productions needing people with individuals interested in acting or crewing films. Future plans also include aiding Directors/Producers locate writers, crews, equipment and locations to expedite the film production process.
