JOHN MANULIS
OPENING SPEAKER FOR THE FALL 2006 FESTIVAL
FRIDAY NIGHT - 8:30pm JOHN MANULIS is CEO and lead producer of Visionbox
Pictures and Visionbox Media Group, a production,
post-production and distribution solutions company.
His diverse career has included work as a casting
director, director, producer, distributor and pioneer
in the use of digital technology to bring greater
creative freedom to the production and distribution of
motion pictures. He has produced or executive
produced films including the soon to-be-released
BELIEVE IN ME and CALL OF THE NORTH, TORTILLA SOUP,
THE L.A. RIOT SPECTACULAR, double-Independent Spirit
Award nominee CHARLOTTE SOMETIMES, FALLING LIKE THIS,
THE BASKETBALL DIARIES, SWING KIDS, FOXFIRE and HBO's
DAYBREAK, BLIND SIDE and STATE OF EMERGENCY.
Additionally, as Head of Filmed Entertainment for
Samuel Goldwyn Films, Manulis supervised the
production, or acquisition, of films including THE
MADNESS OF KING GEORGE, MASTER AND COMMANDER, THE
PREACHER'S WIFE, ANGELS AND INSECTS, I SHOT ANDY
WARHOL and BIG NIGHT.
Mr. Manulis began his career directing theater
off¬–¬Broadway, later segueing into producing
television and film. He received an A.B. degree from
Harvard University, is a member of the Academy of
Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Writers Guild of
America, East and serves on the Board of Directors of
The Digital Coast Roundtable and The Liberty Hill
Foundation.
